NAGAAA 2008 Gay Softball World Series Opens in Seattle

This past weekend, hundreds of gay and lesbian softball players from across the country descended on Seattle, Washington, for the 2008 NAGAAA Softball World Series. This year GaySports.com will be on top of the action providing clips and insight from those on the ground in Seattle. Before they left for Seattle, GaySports.com caught up with the Spartans’ coaches, Michael Crumbacher and Andrew Gonzalez, to chat about the competition and the importance of gay sports leagues.

Shots Fired at Jermaine Dupri Celebrity Party Attended by Usher and Nelly

Hundreds fled an Atlanta area nightclub early Saturday morning when an angry patron started shooting during a celebrity-fueled party organized by Jermaine Dupri. Dupri, along with Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Usher and Nelly, were performing on stage when the gunfire broke out around 3:30 a.m. A security guard at the club received a minor injury when a bullet grazed his arm. No other injuries were reported.

American HIV Rate Higher 40 Percent Higher Than Estimated

A new study conducted for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has revealed the annual infection rate for HIV is 40 percent higher than previously estimated. Fifty-three percent of all new infections occurred among gay and bisexual men, with men and women in the Black community at the second highest rate of infection.

Sandeela Kanwal Balks at Arranged Marriage, Winds Up Dead

A Georgia man of Pakistani descent allegedly killed his 25-year-old daughter over the weekend when she objected to an arranged marriage to a man she hadn’t seen in months. According to ABC News, 56-year-old Chaudhry Rashid was scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of strangling his daughter Sandeela Kanwal. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at Radhid’s home Sunday and found Kanwal dead upstairs.

Heavyweight Champ Evander Holyfield Knocked Out By Foreclosure

The foreclosure crisis has gone Hollywood. First it hit Michael Jackson. Next came Aretha Franklin. Just this week it hit television legend Ed McMahon. Now another name that can be added to that list of celebs with foreclosure woes is former heavyweight champion Evander "the Real Deal" Holyfield, whose $10 million, 54,000 square foot Georgia estate is set to be auctioned off on July 1.
